Schneider Electric Strengthens Environmental Transparency with Strategic Partnership

Schneider Electric, the global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental transparency. The company has recently entered into a strategic partnership with One Click LCA, a sustainability software platform for construction and manufacturing, aiming to enhance the accuracy of environmental assessments in the electrification sector.

Partnership for Environmental Transparency

Buildings are responsible for approximately 39% of global carbon emissions related to energy. With half of today’s buildings expected to still be in use by 2050, Schneider Electric highlights the critical importance of focusing on the retrofitting of existing structures—an initiative that could result in up to an 83% reduction in carbon emissions over a building’s lifecycle.

The collaboration with One Click LCA addresses a major gap in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry: the lack of accurate environmental data for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) products. Through this initiative, users of the One Click LCA platform will gain access to detailed environmental information about Schneider Electric products, enabling more accurate calculations of a building’s environmental impact. This marks the first time a manufacturer has made MEP environmental data available at such scale.

Sorouch Kheradmand, Global Head of Sustainability for Partners at Schneider Electric, stated:
“The construction sector needs reliable environmental data to make informed decisions. By publicly sharing the environmental data of our MEP products through the One Click LCA platform, we aim to set a new standard for transparency within our industry.”

Sustainability Initiatives and Recognitions

In addition to this partnership, Schneider Electric has been globally recognised for its sustainable practices. In 2024, it was named the world’s most sustainable company by Time magazine and Statista, reflecting its ambitious goals to reduce emissions and help clients and stakeholders improve their energy efficiency.

The company has also renewed its partnership with CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) to provide global sustainability consulting services. In 2023, 82% of Schneider’s sustainability consulting clients who responded to the CDP achieved a “B” or higher climate disclosure score with the company’s support.

One notable recognition includes the Schneider Electric Sustainability Impact Awards, where Zembe was honoured as the Country Winner of the Schneider Electric 2024 Sustainability Impact Awards. Zembe was recognised for its commitment to sustainability and long-term focus on investing in and safeguarding the well-being of its employees and local communities. The company promotes sustainability training and has established protocols with educational institutions to encourage internships and job placements. These achievements include the installation of renewable energy systems, a transition towards a more sustainable vehicle fleet, and the development of solutions to measure the environmental impact of products purchased by clients.

Environmental Commitments and Sustainability Programmes

Schneider Electric is committed to reducing emissions across its entire value chain and empowering its clients to reduce their own emissions. Since 2018, the group has helped avoid 347 million metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions through the refurbishment of existing equipment and the procurement of renewable energy. The company aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2025, moving forward its previous target by five years.

To enhance transparency regarding the environmental attributes of its products, Schneider Electric has implemented the Environmental Data Program. This initiative categorises and measures the environmental characteristics and footprint of products, providing comprehensive data that covers their entire lifecycle. The programme goes beyond regulatory requirements, meeting the growing expectations of customers for detailed environmental insights.

Schneider Electric continues to lead the way in sustainability and environmental transparency, forming strategic partnerships and launching innovative programmes that benefit both the environment and its customers. These initiatives reaffirm the company’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices and delivering solutions that contribute to a greener and more responsible future.
